Alvar Aalto - Finnish Architect In the early 1970s, Norden Folk (Midwest Institute of Scandinavian Culture) commissioned Alvar Aalto to design a site plan and buildings to fit our 70 acre (32 hectar) wooded site. Though the plan was never carried beyond the model stage (of the lodge), it makes interesting study. This was one of Aalto's last projects and was meant to be timber-framed and constructed from timbers imported from Finland. |
